Train the trainer, sometimes referred to as TTT, is an education model whereby individuals identified to teach, mentor or train others attend training themselves. Executive leadership training seminars are used to develop emerging leaders in the workplace. Some may already be educators or trainers and are supplementing or reinforcing their skills, while others are receiving training for the first time.

Multiple trainers were selected to handle an aggressive training delivery schedule for one of our clients. Many of the trainers were new to the content and to their co-facilitation partners. Further, the trainers had varying degrees of comfort with the course content.
We created a two-day Train-the-Trainer workshop which covered course design, objectives, key points, and flow of content. We provided a deep dive overview of all course activities including the purpose and structure of activities, debrief guidelines, what to expect from learners, and key points to emphasize. We also provided “teach back” opportunities for trainers and one-on-one feedback and coaching. We included a subject matter expert in the Train-the-Trainer session as well as reference material to answer specific policy-related questions. Last, we co-facilitated with new trainers to ensure their comfort with the course content.
As a result of our efforts, trainers were fully prepared to facilitate the course and recognized that they were fully supported.
